I was searching for Velvet Underground instrumentals just now, and one of the top results was this:

If you click through you get to this:

The actual audio isn’t music at all, but some gibberish about affiliate marketing. I regret having accidentally increased its view total, but there’s nothing I can do about that now.
At least as AI nonsense goes, this has the asset of being obvious. As one of the commenters noted:
Nothing about this video or its existence is natural or organic in any conceivable way, and it is evidence of humanity’s ability to create monstrosities of which we no longer have any control over, and which no single person can wholly comprehend. The force that brought this video into existence is more terrifying than anything that our imaginations could ever conjure up.
For some reason it made me think of this:
Quoth Kevin Ayers, artist, debaucherer, prophet:
It begins with a blessing
But it ends with a curse
Making life easy
But making it worse
I wonder, what did Kevin see in his crystal ball back in 1974? The internet? AI? Something even more hideous yet to come?
Though when I see headlines like this, I really don’t know if we’re going to be around all that much longer.

Says The New Republic:
The site, known as GW Ranch, got a state permit allowing the proposed power plant to emit 33 million tons of carbon dioxide, which would make it the biggest pollution site in the U.S.
And excuse me for a second but—
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE DOING?
At this point in history, right now, we’re going spew all that pollution into the atmosphere for awful tech that nobody asked for and nobody wants?
DOES NO ONE ON THIS PLANET HAVE THE GOOD SENSE GOD GAVE A GERBIL?
Ugh… all these caps are raising my blood pressure. Time for a nice calming beverage. But this thing has to end with a curse, a pox on the greedheads and planet-killers. Who will help me? Khan, how about you?
It’s a fever. It’s gotta break somtime. We’ll all pay for it, but there will be an end to it.
AI will, maybe. Our determination to commit suicide by climate, I’m not so sure.
